Leilani, or Lani, as she is known to family and friends was born in Alaska, but grew up in Marin County, California.  Lani  attended San Marin High School in Novato.  After graduating, she moved away, married, and traveled the world.  Later she went on to continue her studies at Dominican University in San Rafael, California until her senior year.  In 2008 Lani opened Leilani's Best Friends Pet Sitting and Care Service.  Lani wanted to dedicate herself to what she cared about most, the well-being and preservation of creatures unable to speak on their own behalf.

Lani attended the Canine Behavior Academy and received her certificate of accomplishment in 2008.  She also attended the Canine Behavior Academy II, Body Language/Evaluations and Behavior Modification/Training Exercises and received her certificate of completion in 2009, both conducted by Trish King, the former Director of Behavior and Training, at the Marin Humane Society.  Lani also received her CPPS ( Certified Professional Pet Sitter, 2010-2013) issued by Pet Sitters International.  Lani attends a variety of workshops in animal health and policies and she is currently studying to receive her certification in Veterinary Assisting through U.S. Career Institute.

Lani spends her free time with family members, Buster the Dachshund, Chiquita the Miniature Pinscher, and Mittens, her cat.
